A DAY AT THE GERALDTON RACES
Rowe Group hosted a tent at the Geraldton Turf Club for Melbourne Cup day on Tuesday, joined by Clients and colleagues from both Government and Geraldton’s local businesses. With champagne in hand, and everyone dressed in their best with hats and fascinators, the day commenced with the Melbourne Cup race being shown on a big screen TV. This was then followed by a BBQ lunch skilfully cooked by the man himself, Greg Rowe, and his helpful assistant.
We had a great turnout with over 30 people in attendance and once lunch was served everyone turned their attention to the race track, eager for the Geraldton races to begin. Race 7, the Rowe Group Handicap, was the highlight race with Midnight Whispers sneaking in to beat the favourite Chief of War who was aiming to continue his unbeaten start to the season.
There were only a few wins in the tent although the loudest would have to be the win of “Big Clint” in race 6, which was a tip that not everyone decided to put their money on, based on form and questionable quality of the tip.
Overall it was a great day out with beautiful weather and great company. We appreciate all those that attended and hope that you enjoyed your day.
