Construction has commenced on the major road upgrades associated with the $750 million redevelopment of the Garden City Shopping Centre.

The first stage of works were the construction of a new entrance intersection on Marmion Street.  This entrance is expected to open shortly.

The second stage was the commencement of the widening of Riseley Street at the intersection with Canning Highway.  This is expected to be completed prior to Christmas and will increase the capacity of the intersection whereby the queuing on Riseley Street is expected to decrease.

The next stage will be the intersection of Riseley Street and Leach Highway, which will be upgraded to provide additional lanes on Riseley Street and an extension to the slip lane for the right turn from Leach Highway to Riseley Street.  This is expected to alleviate the common occurrence of vehicles backing into the through lanes.

These works form part of the Centre owner’s (AMP Capital) estimated $20 million investment into road and transport upgrades to ensure that customers and residents of the neighbouring dwellings can access the centre.
